  • Magnetosphere: Why is it important?

Earth has many incorporating parts that make it what it is. There’s a few of those incorporating parts that help the Earth sustain life. Since we are the life on Earth, we should discuss what is helping us live and how it is doing so. One of those is a Magnetosphere. What is it exactly, why is it important for us to know, and how is it helping us?

What is the magnetosphere? The question should really read: What is a magnetosphere, because it’s not just on our planet Earth, but it’s also on other planets as well. “The magnetosphere is the region around a planet dominated by the planet’s magnetic field. Other planets in our solar system have magnetosphere, but Earth has the strongest one of all the rocky planets” (Magnetosphere).

  • Natural Gas brings end to Coal

Coal is mainly used for electricity, but there are other ways to generate electricity including natural gas, hydro and nuclear power. Coal is dying though. How can this be? Why is this happening? Furthermore, why is it not coming back as an economic force in the United States?

What is coal exactly? “Coal is a fossil fuel and is the altered remains of prehistoric vegetation that originally accumulated in swamps and peat bogs. The energy we get from coal today comes from the energy that plants absorbed from the sun millions of years ago” (World Coal Association). Basically, when plants die, their energy gets trapped because their “decaying process is interrupted, preventing the release of the stored solar energy,” and that’s where the energy gets locked in the coal (World Coal Association).
